Our
History
Rogers
& Greenberg L.L.P. traces its history back
to 1846 with the admission of D.W. Iddings, Sr.
to the Ohio bar. D.W. Iddings and his sons, William
B. Iddings and Charles D. Iddings, joined together
in practice in the 1870s to form Iddings &
Iddings. The Firm was carried on by Charles’
sons, Daniel W. Iddings Jr. and Andrew S. Iddings.
The modern era of the Firm began in 1927 when
Harry P. Jeffrey joined the Firm to form Iddings
& Jeffrey.
From the outset, the Firm has focused
on providing general legal services to the entrepreneur
who created, developed and operated a business
enterprise. Harry Jeffrey built on that foundation
and established a strong interest in litigation,
personal injury and divorce. After 35 years as
a solo practitioner with an emphasis on business
and real estate, William A. Rogers, Sr. joined
the Firm in the 1940s to continue the business
aspect of the Firm’s practice while Harry
Jeffrey served as a United States Congressman.
When William A. Rogers, Sr. left the Firm in the
early 1950s to own and manage a business venture
in Chicago, J. Robert Donnelly joined the Firm
and developed a strong business and estate planning
practice.
The Firm’s growth continued
in 1960 with the addition of William A. Rogers,
Jr. who concentrated his practice on the legal
representation of medical and dental groups and
small business enterprises, expanding the Firm’s
estate and trust planning practice and beginning
the Firm’s pension and profit-sharing planning
practice. In 1967, Stanley Z. Greenberg joined
the Firm and began expanding the Firm’s
litigation and emerging family law practice, an
area in which Stan Greenberg became the recognized
leader in the Dayton Bar. With the retirement
of Harry Jeffrey and Richard G. Snell in the 1980s,
the Firm became known as Rogers & Greenberg
and built upon the reputation of Iddings &
Iddings as a well-respected member of the Dayton
legal community.
Today, over 150 years after its
founding, Bill Rogers, John M. Cloud, James G.
Kordik, and Michelle S. Vollmar and Michael B.
Miller form the Firm’s Small Business
Planning and Transactional Group,
focusing on the representation of business enterprises
and medical and dental professional groups,
with a special emphasis on tax planning, and
the Estate Planning and Estate and Trust Administration
Group, assisting individuals in all phases of
estate planning. In addition, John Cloud has
become a recognized expert in estate planning
and pension and profit-sharing law. Barry W.
Mancz carries on the Firm’s
excellence in litigation, focusing on commercial
and employment related litigation as well as
representing selected personal injury claimants.
Barry Mancz, along with Jim Kordik and Michelle
Vollmar also handle real estate transactions
for the Firm. Keith R. Kearney and L. Anthony
Lush, with over 30 years of experience in the
field of family law, Amy R. Blair and Michael
B. Miller form the Firm’s
Family Law Group to carry on the tradition of
excellence in the field since the untimely death
of Stan Greenberg on June 10, 2003. |
